(English) Calling Application for HRCSL Youth Camp – 2026
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) invites applications for its thematic Youth Camp on Human Rights and Social Responsibility, to be held from 26–31 October 2026.
The six-day residential programme will bring together 55 young people aged 18–29 from all 25 administrative districts of Sri Lanka. The camp aims to empower young leaders with the knowledge, skills and values needed to understand and respond to contemporary human rights challenges and become active, responsible citizens.
Participants will engage in interactive learning, leadership development, group discussions, simulations, practical exercises, community activity planning and team-building activities. Key areas will include human rights, integrity, accountability, equality, non-discrimination, diversity, democratic participation and social responsibility.
The programme will also address emerging challenges affecting young people, including drug use, corruption, cybercrime, misinformation, hate speech, violence, discrimination, environmental degradation and mental health concerns.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be 18–29 years of age.
- Be able to communicate effectively in Sinhala, Tamil or English.
- Be willing to participate fully in all camp activities.
- Demonstrate an interest in human rights, leadership, inclusion and diversity.
- Be committed to planning and implementing community-based human rights activities after the camp.
- Demonstrate responsibility, teamwork and respect for people from diverse backgrounds.
- Have an affiliation with a youth group, organization, institution, network or similar body through which they can contribute to the promotion of human rights.
Participation & Support
Two participants from each of Sri Lanka’s 25 districts will be selected, with an additional five participants, including persons with disabilities and members of other marginalized groups, to promote diversity and inclusion.
Residential facilities will be provided by the HRCSL, and eligible transportation expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the Commission’s rules and procedures. Participants must attend the full programme to be eligible for transportation reimbursement.
