HRCSL launches the Guidelines for Police officers to protect Transgender Persons

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) launched the Guidelines for Police officers to protect Transgender Persons on 15th March 2023. The guidelines for the police were released on how to uphold the Human Rights of the LGBTI community while interacting with them, led by the Chairperson of the HRCSL, Justice Rohini Marasinghe, with the participation of the senior management in the HRCSL and Mr. Ruwan Gunasekara, DIG Legal, Ms. Renuka Jayasundara, DIG Children & Women Abuse Investigation Range, Mr. Nishantha Herath, SP (Director Human Rights) from the Department of Police and Institutions and individuals representing the LGBTI community.
