The Message of the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on International Women’s Day 2023

Each year on the 08th of March the world celebrates International Women’s Day to commemorate the social, economic, civil and political achievements of women and further advocate for gender parity. Although progress has been made over the years in promoting and protecting women’s rights, the journey of fully realizing women’s rights remains a continuous uphill climb. Building upon the ongoing functions of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, this year on International Women’s Day the Commission spotlights the ‘responsibility of law enforcement authorities to ensure the inherent dignity of women’.
