Press Notice on Draft Employment Bill
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has written on 26 October 2023 to the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment requesting a copy of the draft Employment Bill and awaiting a response from the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment.
The purpose of requesting a copy of the latest version of the draft Bill is to enable the Commission to fulfill its mandate in terms of section 10(c) of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 21 of 1996. The said provision empowers the Commission to ‘advise and assist the government in formulating legislation…in furtherance of the promotion and protection of fundamental rights’.
