HRCSL Issues Report on the Human Rights Situation of Rohingya Detainees at the Air Force Camp in Mullaitivu
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has issued a report on the human rights situation of Rohingya detainees held at the Air Force Camp in Mullaitivu. The National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) of the HRCSL recently conducted an unannounced visit to the camp to monitor the human rights conditions of the Rohingya detainees.
Following the visit, the HRCSL prepared a report outlining its findings and recommendations concerning the human rights situation of the detainees. The report has been forwarded to the relevant duty bearers and government institutions for their consideration and necessary action.
Through this intervention, the HRCSL seeks to promote the protection of the human rights of persons deprived of their liberty and to strengthen accountability and compliance with applicable human rights standards. The HRCSL expects the relevant authorities to give due consideration to the findings and recommendations contained in the report and take appropriate action within their respective mandates.
